ROCA Industry, the first industrial holding of construction materials in Romania, together with the companies within the group, DIAL Hârșova and Bico Industries, Evolor, Eco Euro Doors, Electroplast, is launching the 'Industry of Good Deeds' platform, a community impact initiative. The first project aims to transform the Sălcioara Gymnasium School in Ialomița County, with a financial support of 50,000 euros and expertise contribution.
A Modern and Safe Educational Environment
The transformation of the school in Sălcioara aimed at improving the classrooms and creating multifunctional spaces equipped with new furniture and modern equipment, thus fulfilling the need for developing a stimulating educational environment that supports the academic and social progress of students. Among the materials donated by the companies within the group are paints, thinners, fence panels, rectangular posts, and doors, all produced in high-performance factories in Romania.
The Challenges of Education in Rural Areas
A diagnosis conducted by Narada Organization highlighted significant issues among the 128 students of the school in Sălcioara: 80% of them are afraid to express themselves due to fear of labeling, and 50% are not satisfied with their relationships with peers and teachers. The project aims to address these problems by providing emotional and physical support to reduce the school dropout rate, which in Romania stands at 15%, the highest in the EU according to Eurostat.
Implications and Long-Term Perspectives
The 'Industry of Good Deeds' is part of ROCA Industry's sustainability strategy, aiming to generate real long-term value through strategic investments and strong relationships. 'We aim for this project to be a positive example that can be replicated because Romania's chance to grow lies in highlighting successful models and creating systems that can adopt and multiply these models,' stated Ionuț Bindea, CEO of ROCA Industry.
The project was coordinated by the Narada Organization, and the funds were donated by ROCA Industry companies, with the support of the Impetum Foundation. The project activities also included opening the doors of factories to students from Sălcioara, giving them the opportunity to explore careers in the industry and participate in cultural activities.
The transformation of the Sălcioara School is an important step towards creating a modern and safe educational environment capable of supporting the comprehensive development of students. The 'Industry of Good Deeds' initiative demonstrates ROCA Industry's commitment, along with all the companies within the group, to the sustainable development of communities and education in Romania.
